Absolutely a classic song. I was made familiar with it by Joan Jett's
version, but the original is better here.

I think it was a bit much in the tremolo department--gave it that
"pumping" feel--but I dig the overall mix.

You're a youngin'! it was a '69 hit by Tommy James and the Shondells

As for this recording, I'm not into the effect but a remix would fix
it.

Well, yeah! I was all of two years old when the original came out!

I think you're right about the remix--just don't go hip-hop with it, or
I'll have to get all upset n stuff...

I have a 45 of it, and the 45 is mono. Stereo mix may have been an
afterthought, and may not even have been released on the first issue.
It sounds fine in mono through a 4x6 car radio speaker late at night.

YEp, or through an old tube type radio used to sit on my
bedside table in my dormitory room when I was a kid when
song first came out.
Also sounded pretty cool on the jukebox at the bowling alley
at the time I thought, and iirc that was a mono mix as well.

Actually - it would sell with the booomba boooomba so long as it had a
video with big Baboooombas
