Hi.
I've just got a really good deal on a pair on Gallo Solo Reference
Monitors.
They should be quite a step up for me. But, I'm a little confused
looking at the back of them. There are 5 posts - 2 red, 2 black and
one non-colored, which has a big yellow Hovland Musicap coming
out of it and attaching to one of the red posts??
Oh, and the red posts seem to be 'bridged' together with a heavy
braided wire. Likewise for the 2 black posts.
I'm really only used to seeing the red banana plug going into the red
post and the black into the black. + and - you know. Simple.
I'm confused.

Can anyone help? Thanks a lot. in advance.
AC.

Here's a picture I took of the back of one of the Gallos..

Odds are the speakers are set up to accept biwiring, ie
separate leads for the tweeter and woofer drivers. Because
the black and red posts are bridged together you can just
run your black plug into either of the black posts and
likewise with the red. I recently read somewhere that
you'll get marginally better performance if you run the
wires diagonally, ie plug into the top (tweeter) red post
and bottom (bass) black post. Didn't seem to make a
difference with my Totems, but FWIW...

I don't know what the deal is with the fifth post. I'd
suggest getting ahold of Gallo.
