An unwanted expression map perhaps? Other MIDI Transform functions could
do this, but it shouldn't happen on a shiny fresh track.
Play that snare roll again, but this time open a Midi Monitor on the
track. (It's under MIDI Inserts). Make sure it is on and that notes are
shown. As the notes roll by, is Value2 (velocity) what you expect? What
velocity is it, if it's all the same? 127? 64?
This would still give you no explanation though. Only whether the
"equalization" occurs before or after the MIDI monitor. I'll see if I
can come up with more ideas.
