is anyone familiar with derek shek's NOS DAC with 1541A chip? i mean the one in a kind of a brownish translucent box - i think it is the last one he made with 1541A chip.

    does it have re-clock?

what kind of perfomance is to be expected from it (pros & cons)?

what is a realistic price for it on s/h market what was the price when new?

    thanks

I've not heard that particular DAC but mine has a TDA1541A chip in as well as some other mods and I have to say I am *extremely* impressed with the sound it makes - a huge difference to the squeezebox's onboard DAC which itself isnt bad - but its a clear step up in detail, tone, bass, speed and midrange and sounds expressive and musical. I love it.
