Saw this in another forum and seemed like a good idea?

But then where do you draw the line if you start to create off-limit areas?

    1) DD vs BD
    2) Vinly vs CD
    3) SS vs valves
    4) PCBs vs point-to-point
    5) Class AB vs D
    6) Passive vs active pre
    7) etc etc

    Yes, I agree.

It should be possible to discuss this stuff (the point of the forum?)without the antaganism.

I'm prepared to admit my methods are imperfect as I dont

    a) replicate what I do on repeated systems

    b) do DBT

However it annoys me when I 'm told stuff is in my imagination and it didn't/can't have happen(ed).

Tell me it MAY have been in my imagination and it MAY not have happened......I don't have a problem with that.

    :)

However it doesn't seem that it is.

    <rant>

One unmentioned reason for not discussing the double blind testing of cables is that its boring. Very boring indeed. They can go on for 22 pages and get absolutely nowhere. Not one participant has budged one inch and the only thing that has generally been generated is a lot of hot air and bad feeling.

Outsiders looking in likely think you are a bunch of knobs. Really, it may give some of the participants a sense of smug one upmanship when they score a point or phrase a put down in a particularly "witty" way. But the rest of the world if they can be bothered to read beyond page 2 likely just thinks the poster a self important pillock. Besides it usually boils down to "You're deaf" ... "No I'm not, you believe in Fairies" ad infinitum. If a sensible contribution is made its usually ignored or put down on the basis that it doesn't fit with whatever side's belief system it challenges.

What I don't understand is just why it keeps coming up, again and again and again and again and again.

Tell you what why not just create a sticky and then whenever it raises its head the mods can just tip the whole thread into it and pull the chain.

Experience suggests strongly the opposite, although I admit that I haven't DBTed the forum...

Nothng wrong with dscussing cables, just ban those with a vested self interest in selling them from contributing.

Am I the only one who can see a 22 page thread developing about whether we should discuss the cable debate over and over and over that very swiftly degenerates to the personal attacks and accusations of fraud-damn its started already.....
