yes i know it's pretty old but i've only just bought this covers album, after looking for it for absolutely ages. it was one of those back burner cd's which was a definate going to buy (after hearing don't let it bring you down in american beauty) but it never seemed to be in any record shop i visited and there was always something more pressing when having an amazon session.
sunday morning i found it in my local mvc and even then nearly passed it by but thought no... you've been looking for a few years now! so godd*mn buy it or you'll kick yourself later.
got it home and listened to it and it's a damn good album. don't let it bring you down is the reason i bought it and yes this is a great song however no more i love you's, train in vain (that bass), take me to the river (gotta get me some talking heads again), thin line between love and hate are all top interpretations and none of the other are dud's i just don't know them as well (yet!).
this, for me, is another one of those 'perfect' albums where every song is 'right' and there aren't any dud songs. part of this i suspect is annie lennox's voice, i'd forgotten how good it is. another thing that is outstanding is the clarity and quality of the production and recording. even on my altar to flat earthness, the imaging and soundstage are impressive, without loosing any bounce, bass or emotion.
if you don;t have it, go and buy it now! it's not fast and it won't make you jump around but it's perfect as a sunday morning hangover cure.
cheers
