There's been some comment around that Chord Odyssey "seems" to be nothing much more than commercially available 12 AWG Silver Plated Copper with 19 Strands per conductor 0.45 mm with PTFE Insulation: available from RS, stock no 358-179. There's been some discussion here: https://www.audio-forums.com/as-rediect/showthread.php?t=8302 Meanwhile, TNT http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/spkcbl_e.html suggests that anything thicker than 24 AWG is a big no-no, but then, TNT doesn't like stranded cable all. To the question: If I were to have a go at using the RS stuff, (there's also some similar "military spec" silver plated stuff on e-bay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5851448281&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT), would I do better to use the 12AWG wire, or multiple runs of something like 24AWG? I know Effem will say the Bard is what I need: I'd really like to try it, but I don't think I can afford it at the moment. Odyssey would just about be affordable, but spending that much would mean I'd want to stick with for quite some while, even if it's not "the best". Better, then to try something relatively cheap as a stop-gap before trying the Bard. So, 1 run of 12AWG, or 3 runs of 24AWG? Anybody got any real-world experience?
