Paul, It's as follows dCS verdi dCS Purcell dCS Elgar Jeff Rowland Power Amp PS Audio P1200 VMPS RM40 (sig?) Speakers I can see a Shunyata Viper as well The VMPS speakers are surprisingly inexpensive, available mailorder from Eastern Europe in the UK. They are tuneable in the bass to integrate with the room, and work in surprisingly small living rooms. Sorry I know:duck:
Nice rig, but I do think the speakers look like converted gandfather clocks!!! I have one like it on my landing
Mine are 1/2 way through construction mate, so u wont even be alone with acoustic panels in this forum! (if you are already). aaaah the joys of geekdom. Smitten am I.
Ive got the hifi+ review on that Jeff Rowland amp somewhere. Not heard of those VMPS speakers before. Got a link by any chance? Chris
Try this Chris http://www.vmpseurope.com/e/vmps.htm And I admit the speakers are Elixirs, not the RM40, which they are a development of
Whilst this isnt a challenge due to the fact all the kit is listed, there is an array of impressive odds and ends... http://www.arduman.com/.../adnans.htm I love the fact each year the dude visits Adnan, that his system is almost entirely different.... Any thoughts?
Ahhh! to even attempt to sum it up is pointless. To use the vernacular - the irreplaceable, now no-more, Hacienda. FAC51 was Factory Records' catalog number for the greatest and most musically influential UK night club of all time.
...and I STILL can't get over the fact that my sister in law (who's 39 so 11 years older than me - always wrote her off as a fogey - OK, not really but...) used to go to the Hac in the late 80s, and my mate Bren went there in 1990 - must have been an amazing place! Who in god's name would want all those valve amps in the lounge? Get them onto racks at least so you've got some room to move....
The Hac was just superb - the music was its real purpose - unlike a lot of big clubs. My click and I attended pretty much weekly between 88 and 92 (bar the shut down in early 91). Early on the pa system was really simple but really good, it got flabbier and flabbier with age tho. The club was just always destined to close cos of all the gangs and guns - all good things come to an end I guess. the film "24 hour party people" gives a reasonable account of the key years. Considering the guy's listening room is pretty sizable his system takes up half of it. With all those shunyatas and the hydra and the pwr amps on the floor the whole thing looks like some freak, insect/plant. i dig it, but my four offspring would have fun destroying it.
