I have for sale this classic remote control pre-amp and stereo power amp combo from Audiolab. Both units are functionaly fautless and in excellent aesthetic conition, the power amp is the late black version, and I also have the original boxes ready for shipping.

Please note that an earth colar on one of the right channel phono input sockets on the power amp has become lose (a common problem the phono sockets on Audiolab kit) and has subsequently become lost. This shouldn't be a problem, as there are 2 pairs of inputs on the 8000P which are both wired in parallel (apparently this is used for "daisy chaining" a set of power amps together according to user the manual), so unless you want to use both inputs at the same time this won't be an issue for you - it certainly hasn't been an issue for me.

    £830 (inclusive of delivery).

May consider splitting the two units to be sold separately if required.

Feel free to contact me for further info such as serial numbers, digital photos, etc.

PM or Email: hchtang AT hotmaildotcom.

    Hi Pen,

OK, where the hell do you get them from? Tag McClaren charge £30 for one of the f***ing things :bub: (and that doesn't include fitting  ).

    :)

    Hi Henry

I replaced mine with some gold plated single items.
Not an exact replacement of the audiolab jobs, but certainly does the fix.

Ah OK, they must have been single piece jobbies right? In which case you'd have had to have knocked out the plastic node (and rest of the phono socket) that's normally there and solder the single piece socket into place? :)

    yep, thats it.
Theres a plate on the underside of the case that you can remove - saves stripping the whole unit to solder on the board

You mean the "Load" terminals are just connected in parallel to the input ones? Interesting, I've got an 8000P and hadn't realised. That could be handy to know, cheers :) .

    Good luck selling the amps,

    Martin

    Bump! :)

Due to one or two time wasters the 8000Q is still available now at £400 including p&p.

    Hi Del,

I have received your PM and sent you a reply yesterday morning. The reply still appears to be sitting in your inbox as unread according to the message tracking status.

I'm currently in negotiations with a buyer but if he lets me down you'll be the first know. :)

    Cheers.
    Henry.

I can't believe the trouble you've had selling your 8000Q Henry. When I stuck mine on eBay a little while ago I got loads of interest, and it went for significantly more than you're asking. I thought someone would snap yours up as a bargain straight away!

Martin - What letter serial number was the one you sold? My one is an A, not that that matters IMO but people seem to prefer the later models i.e E or F. Although personally I can't imagine they'd sound any different, if anything I seem to remember most of the very late Audiolab kit getting bad reviews in the hi-fi press just after Tag took over the brand. I guess you got the timing just right when you sold your 8000Q. I watched an 8000Q on Ebay last month, and it only went for £415 and not that much bidding on it either. It feels like a lot of people are still not buying hi-fi ATM.

Del - Will keep you informed but it looks like the transaction is going to happen with the other guy, about 80% sure of that, but just a question of when now as potential buyer is coming up to collect in person (paying full asking price).

Mine was an E serial number IIRC which probably made the difference, although I still had a few people only wanting an F. I sold mine early December, but I do think I was a little lucky in getting about £500 for it :). That basically made it a free swap for the ex-dem Densen I picked up, which was nice.

So, the 8000Q is still for sale.

    Any *genuine* takers? :)
