This is the top of the range Affordable Valve Company amp with the huge transformers, expensive Svetlanas and shiny case. It sells new for £1400.

20w.p.c. but as bags of current, very strong; will drive most things. Sourced initially from China and worked on and modded by the enthusiastic Mr. Lim, if this were a UK or American import you could double the price anyway. Its the nicest amp I've heard in my home. About 18 months old when I bought it a few weeks ago. Its a nice amp and its working fine.

Now here's the sting, and the reason I'm selling: After thinking I could get on the highish-end valve route on the cheap, I discovered a few days later that Mr.Lim is as eccentric as he is enthusiastic. This is not a post to damn him again but I must point out the caveat within this sale. As many of you will know from earlier posts in the forum, he refuses to touch second hand ones. Bizarre when he insists that you only come to him for re-valving and this will be neccessary every few years.

So I have gone the full on Exposure route to hifi heaven and leaving this, my second valve amp behind. I offer this amp for sale as an absolute bargain to anyone who has the confidence to revalve it himself or who can locate a suitable technician. I can't be bothered with the hassle but in selling it I'm being open about the potential problem. Price reflects the odd situation with the maker, otherwise would fetch much more. Packaging is good. see it on the mess of a website www.affordablevalvecompany.com its the £1400 one with the shiny case.

B.t.w. I had high regard for Lim as a hifi hero who brings tremendous value to market and laughs at hifi rip-offs and lies, which was music to my ears as one trying to save cash ! Pity about the eccentric attitude, but if you can get round that...........here's a bargain for you.

Now that's my spacing sorted, er, anyone fancy a highish-end valve amp for less than a lot of speaker cables ? :D

Out of interest, what are you selling? Are you looking for a valve amp? Are you aware of the need to find your own technician for when the time comes?

Following someone's suggestion, I contacted valve speacialist Icon Audio, who import and mod Chinese valve amps.

They are very positive about handling the servicing and I have permission to say they will do it. They are familiar with the amps. They agree it can be tricky and because you have to go in underneath when its on, potentially dangerous. But they know what they are doing.

So folks, THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED.

I still won't be keeping it as I now have my top Exposure line up and I'll be basing my speakers around them, plus integrating it all with my av stuff plus extra Exposure amps. But you can have access to this low-highend amp at a good price. Its a bargain new, but I'm offering it at £550 delivered . There's been a lot of chatter about this amp and about this company and its owner. We know its a good amp but obviously people get put off by the owner factor and all the hassle. There are people who can take care of that for you and now I have sourced a good company who can see to it for you.

    THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED .
