Be careful Saab, you're in danger of geting into this classical music thing...

My introduction to Classical Music was a "favourite classics" CD my flatmate bought when I was 20,I listened to it and thought I'd like to hear more of that...... now here I am, 900+ CDs later, everything from Adams to Zemlinsky.

its a slippery slope, I tell you!!

I'm afraid I can't tell you what's similar to the section you're talking about :D.

The essential Bach concerti though IMO are those for violin - the two concerti for violin solo and the "double" concerto for two violins. They're earthy, evergreen masterpieces, and amongst my all-time favourite music (especially the double).

    Try here:

It's not one of the more usual Bach harpsichord works. Trevor Pinnock on Archiv is usually a safe, reliable choice for Bach harpsichord works, but I can't find any evidence of him ever having recorded this one.

    Dear Saab
Excuse my late contribution, I am a newcomer here.
BWV 974 is Bachs keyboard-arrangement of A.Marcellos well known oboe concerto.
I can give you 2 safe recommendations, and I know both well.
Ivor Bolton on harpsichord ASV 116 GAU
    or
Lorenzo Ghielmi on organ Ars Musici AM 1179-2
Despite Ghielmis high artistic standard I tend to prefer the harpsichord version.
On both CDs are other fine Bach-arrangements of different concertos, first and foremost Vivaldi.
    Cheers
