Hoping to get there, it all depends on life and work at the moment though, I'll know later this week, I'm on the trail of promotion so I've got ot be obliging. If you need my space I'll have to forgo it, but I'm hopeful......

Wish it were a bit closer or I'd bring my new speaker cables which I'm taking a chance on:

Many things have been written about these speaker cables stateside, and I needed new, inexpensive cables, so figured 'why not?' - they just cleared customs, so should be here tomorrow. I'll report on them anyway, but it would have been nice to try them in a couple of different systems and see what others think (I am prepared for the worst, however - it may be all hype!)

Zanash, if they do what hundreds of people claim of them, they'll be the biggest bargain in cables (at around £12/metre delivered to the UK) - there are at least 25 different people claiming to have ditched cables like Audience Au24 in preference to these wee babies. I've ordered a 16' pair plus jumpers, and if they're half as good as they say I'll be happy...

...not the world's best site, but the feedback is good, even though in essence there's not a lot of information in the site itself. Proof of the pudding being in the eating, I figured I'd risk a punt. Having been down the expensive cables route before, I'd rather wager £100 on these than risk much more on the enormously-marked-up Nordost or similar...

A space is yours until you find out one way or the other, this was arranged from your wanting to hear the quads.

Sounds like there's space for a "bargain cable" backoff sometime... :) Where are you up north? I'm on the M1 in Bedford and could possibly travel.

    rsand - Yes please
Isaac - I'll drive this time if you want

Like Isaac, I don't have anything to bring
...but... I did wonder about bringing a bog standard T-amp over, and then wondered if Zanash could bring one of his souped up T-amps instead, or for comparison

I'm sans T-amps at present.....Mine are currently winging there way to a chap in a swap. Though they sounded good on imagining they ran out of steam too quickly on the Quads, so they weren't ideal. Hoping to bring my modded VR70E if it behaves it's self [Its just devoured a set of cheap chinese EL34's]. I've made up 5 sets of visually the same cable, using the same plugs but very different conductors should make some intresting listening. To fascilitate the cable swap I'll bring my pre and cd So we can listen to two cables at a time, a refference and a newbe. I can then switch between them at the flick of a button. I'll try to remember to bring the Disc with the height track ...see previous threads. Its also got some good music on it as well.

    Zanash,

I still have the silver speaker cables you very kindly lent me. I have put them through their paces in my system with both active and passive pre-amps. Interesting results. I shall elaborate later.

I have a pair of anti-cables which I had been using previously to trying your cables. I would be happy to lend them to you.

I will send out your cables tomorrow.

    Many thanks again Peter.

Fen Dancer, I looked at those also - but the Silver Resolutions. The speaker cable looked quite tempting, but the Anti-Cables (which ought to arrive today) won me over due to being (a) cheaper, and (b) having unanimously good feedback AFAICT.

The Anti cables are quite good in all honesty (I still have some some where???), especially if you need long runs.
Not sure about it plastering the Au24, certainly didn't in my system, However it may suit other systems better, for the cash its a no brainer IMO
