I'm just about to make up some balanced cables for between my cdp, pre and power amps...
The problem is it's so long since I played with balanced stuff I can't remember which is which!

Is pin 1 the shield/ref, pin 2 cold and pin 3 hot?
In which case I connect my braid to pin 1, but do I ignore the ground pin on the XLR connector body?

And finally (forgive my daftness) does anyone know if Neutrik NC3 connectors are crimp or solder type? Only the connector body ground pin looks like a normal solder type, the other 3 are slash-cut hollow tubes...

    Cheers in advance!

Leonard if you've not run that advantage and pre balanced yet, you are in for a real treat.
