I know this has been discussed before but.....

Just got some AD826 's replacing the usual opa2604 and opa2132 I normally use. Hell their good, but at a price [£10ish each]. Anyone got any other favorites

AD8620s are fantastic, but limited to +/- 13v supplies.

I only know a little on opamps, it seems the best ones are predominantly single, and there is not much quality choice above a 5532 in the duals, I would be intersted in hearing about dual ones.

what about a njm4580? its not bad at all on paper.

The 2604 is a significant step up on the 5532 for a dual (OPA604 is the single version).

AD712s are reasonable (AD711 single version)

Of course, there are the "super" ADs, like the 825, 8065/8066, 8610, etc. However, they are often only available as singles, and only in SOIC8 packages, which can make life a little difficult.

There are also the OPA637 and 627, which are highly regarded (very hifi sound).

The BB 627's are serious hifi territory, enhanced sweet and refined mids, wobbly bass and rolled off top end.
865's and 866's like a souped up AD 825, with no grain or grit, 8610's better in the bass then 8065's but not as open.
There are a few more, but I'm afraid that took me a long time to find them. Wm

I think Data may need to hear a few more !!

I started several years ago with the An versions of the veneraable 5534 which was an improvement over the standard. But these have now been left so far behind .

Most of this confirms my thoughts so far ..........anyone else tried and liked different opamps?

for singles, which is better, ad797 or lt1028?

any other ultra low noise singles that can compete with these?

I do, I do!!! which are the best duals, they are hard to seek out?

    Hi

My CD player (Rotel 970BX) seems to have 2 AD711JN op-amps. Does anyone know anything about these? Is there a good direct replacement which would improve the sound?

"Better" is a subjective term. It can be better on paper and sound worse (cheap tranny amp v valve amp for example). Better is down to personal preference.

Some will prefer the AD825 to the OPA627, whilst others will prefer the 627.

A drop in replacement for the 711.... you could use 627s, or you can get little modules that allow you to put the surface mount AD825 or 8065 in place of the DIP 711.
