best input for dac64?

    optical or coax via phono...? I think I can detect a difference, I think phono is better..slightly more rounded sound

    On almost every DAC we've ever played with, XLR was far and away the best input.

    Sometimes tha difference is huge as well, the TAG DAC 20 being far far better via XLR than anything else. On most things the gap is smaller, but still worthwhile.

    Totally agree with Tim about the Tag DAC20 - XLR was miles better than anything else.

    As for DAC64, I'm using XLR but the difference compared to the RCA input is minimal, even using different cables. Even optical is pretty good.

    If you have an XLR digi out on your transport then that's what I'd use.
