    Hey people,

Here's a quick question for you:

If you were allowed to own only one recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons on Vinyl (or STEREO sacd, for those living in the 21st century!), which one would it be and why?

    Rgds,
    DT

Definitely The Academy of Ancient Music / Christopher Hogwood
Oiseau Lyre LP or CD. Engaged and competent playing without
excesses. And exellent recorded sound despite its age.

I would take Nils-Erik Sparf and the Drottningholm Ensemble on BIS. An extraordinarily lively and vividly recorded performance.

Biondi's first? I don't know the second. Or Scimone's old one. But I'm trodding on unfamiliar ground, so don't take what I say very seriously.

As a person brought up very close to the Italian culture I love the Scimone's version.
