You can run it off of a relatively small transformer, I got a few 500w ones for 60 quid a pop. I don't think that route is optimal though long term, you really need to ask muse about voltage conversion IMO

why not get it imported straight to a hifi dealer (that does repair work - or a repair shop) instead of to your house?

It will save you an extra amtrak fee.

I used the emporium for my voltage conversion (but then I would!) - I dont think its the hardest job in the world and I bet theres loads of people who could do it for you.. on my bit of kit, it was just a case of snipping one jumper and connecting another!! (and testing etc)

12S out put was a bonus at that price.....

is that output worth using rather than balanced?

I,ve got audio magic ref and audio reverlation and Camalot excaliber.....prefer magic ref out of the three

    Pennance..........

All is well with AVI now.........was a minor problem regarding fuse rating that they were well aware of.........

if your buget is about a grand, you can't go wrong...very different to the earlier pre/monobloc's

hmm, i was considering AVI mono's in the future, and possibly a pre at a later date.

Well then Kev, as I have an Audio Magic ref spare, you best buy it of me to go between the transport and P1-a, and use yours between the P1/P3, I2S is better than Balanced, plus over 96Khz sample rates (you only have 1 Xlr in so restricted to 96 on that format), it sounds different with true I2 S all the way through, the Muse isn't bad I had the 8 and 296 dac, pretty fair I have to say :)

the avi monos are a great sh buy...I have been tempted on a few occasions...never took the plunge..

with the transformer...tx...there are a few routes..

1/ buy a mains voltage convertor...try maplins for a 120v output or do a search on the web...some of these building companies, too..some tools run off 120v...

2/ if the primary of the transport can be wired for 230v..it should say on it if you have a look inside...may do may not..makes it easy...take it to a good tv repair shop and they will do it on the cheap...its only a few wires...

if muse have any contacts try emailing or even phoning to get it from the horses mouth..

4/ failing all that, you will have to buy a new transformer with 230v primary and the correct secondary voltages...and ample current....and get it fitted by someone decent, again maybe a good independant, or get some quotes from audio specialists like emporium or audio laboratories leeds, ...similar....

maplin , rs and farnell....you may have to get one made...the company who supplies maplins nice toroids do that I think...

it'll be interesting to hear what you think of it when you've got it converted to UK voltage.

Decent second hand transports at real money prices are like rockinghorse shit IMO

I have bought an older Muse transport from the States too (the Model Five) and it simply has a 110-220 switch inside the box.

It also has a I2S output, and I wonder if it can be hooked up with a Perpetual or anything else beside a Muse DAC?
