    Hi All

For those forum folks who have bought from the usa, eg audiogon, could you please advise me how you sorted out the postage (insured), what companies were used, and what's the best way of avoiding paying tons of duty/vat

I personally used USPS,as they gave the best price,(most economical),but I get them impression some people refuse to use them, others are avaliable, (UPS FED EX)but you'll pay for it.

With USPS I found it arrived within the week, good condition, and the tax office were very generous.

Unfortunately in the UK, USPS is delivered (not!) by ParcelFarce so are best avoided. I'ts worth paying the extra IME.
