Any ideas? Idealy it should be less than 40 miles away from Manchester and accessible via A roads (my mate has a £200 Fiesta so Motorways a not a good idea).

The most important thing is it must have a pub or one with a very close walking distance.

There is nothing worse than being stuck in a cold camp site after the BBQ has gone out.

Any ideas are welcome. Also they must allow younger people. There will be me and my mate.

A couple of campsites in Southport turned us away becuase of our age, we found one in Ainsdale but it was a good mile away from the nearest pub.

maybe a bit far - but goto middleton in teesdale - there is a pub called the strathmore arms, you cancamp free of charge - amazing place, next to low force...can give you directions if you want

It probably is, I am not sure where Teeside is but I am guessing some where near the River Tee?

It sounds ideal though but there is no way an old Fiesta will make it across those Pennines with my mate driving :D

Cae Du Campsite in Beddgelert in Gwynedd is my favourite...
There's 4 pubs within 5-10 minutes, and the view is breathtaking, especially at this time of year with the autumn colours..
Otherwise you could try the one in Edale - that's got 2 decent pubs nearby and definitely lets "young folks" on it (so does Cae Du, but the owner takes no sh*t, and is backed up by his Ridgebacks - though he's not a 10 o clock lights out kind of guy..)

If you fancied venturing a little further, there's a couple of good campsites near Ambergate in the Peak District, pubs close by too. Lovely part of the world.

Camping is off till next year now due to the weather but I will look at those drinks. The peak district isn't really far from Manchester (depending where abouts).

erm...the peak district? :D

Yeah but its a huge county (Derbyshire), it stretches from Greater Manchester (Stockport and Tameside) all the way to Nottinghamshire so its either 20 or 100 miles away :D

cant rember its exact location but there used to be a populer climbers pub and campsite somewere between heathersage and grindleford, might be called the robin hood.if its still giong the grindleford station cafe does a mighty fine breakfast.

The Robin Hood did indeed have a decent campsite by a pub. Much used by climbers and those wanting to camp by a pub, not always with harmonious results. And I'll second Grindleford as a good eatery despite having tables so greasy you mug sticks to the surface.

It all sounds good, I assume these places have toilets or is a case of pulluting the local water supply?

I intend to invest in a proper tend for next year complete with a bar :D
