Are you a cat or dog person? Personally I like dogs, and dont like cats at all - I am allergic to them, and they subjectively seem sly and ungrateful, whereas dogs seem like much more loving animals with much more of a personality about it.

    What about you? :D

Dogs always seem to me to be a bit like irritating not-very-bright children.

Cats are OK, but they're not as smart as they think they are.

If a cat likes you it because they like you.
If a dog likes you its because you feed it.

Cat. Nothing against dogs, but I much prefer cats.

    Dogs have owners,
    Cats have staff :D

Cats are also a hell of a lot easier to live with. We have two cats and we often go away for the weekend and leave them with enough food and water and they're plenty happy. Dogs have to be walked, taken outside to piss/crap and are generally high maintenance.

Our two cats have great (and very different) personalities and they are just as loving as any dog.

    Michael.

Sorry penance don't agree, cat's well go where they get food, they are only interested in you if you feed them and hassle you for food, if you don't feed them they'll bugger off next door.

Dogs have more personality, far more intelligent than a cat (or kids).

Defiantly a doggy man, but couldn't have either as I'm allergic to hair, great!

    Cats for me please :)

I don't like dogs at all, and they seem to absolutely hate me :( - I've been bitten on the way home from school, chased home from the park, knocked over into a wall as a toddler by next doors old boxer...I could go on.

I saw a review of a book called 'a hundred things you didn't know about your cat'. the review just said - 'the only thing you need to know about your cat is that if it were bigger it would cheerfully eat you.'

having said that, far prefer them to dumb dawgs. cats respect your personal space and don't cr*p all over the pavement...

cats by a long shout. dogs are smelly, slobbery, farting, idiotic animals. they'll bark at anything and are one step removed from a wolf although their owners forget this most of the time. they are also far more bother than cats.
just off to edit my entry in the pet hate list....
    cheers

One of our cats rarely eats here, but is always here to sit on our lap, play and cuddle up.

Dogs are clearly far better - you actually get something back from a dog. Cats couldn't care less whether you live or die, so long as they're warm and dry and have enough to eat.

I have two cats and had one dog.
Unfortunately I had to have my lovely dog Max put to sleep this very afternoon (5 o'clock)as he was so ill. I've shed more tears this afternoon over my Dog than any member of my family that has passed away in recent years. If i could have swapped both of the cats lives for my dog they would have been history months ago.

They say that a dog is mans best friend, i know mine was.

Mans best friend thread on HFC

    It's Dogs for me.

I have 3 cats,I love my cats and they are very clever,I remeber when one was a kitten,he wanderd off,he had never been out,I thought he'll never come back,he'll get lost,no chance,he came straight back, which is funny as all the houses look the same from the outside, but he chose his gardens without hesitation, don't under estemate the intelligience of cats, they have it all sussed out.

Dogs are OK,but here everyone just has a dog and lets the bloody things bark all day while they go to work, and when they do take them out they just let them crap everywhere!

You could always get a poodle... they don't molt hairs everywhere so you can't be allergic to them! You could get the wife to walk it so you don't lose any street cred you may have built up round your way :D

Can't stand cats for the same reasons, allergic to them, other people's are alright for very short periods of time, but that's it, although cat does go quite well in the kebab on a Saturday night :chunder:

yes, strange smells and loud barking whenever someone walks within 1/2 a mile of your front door.

    cheers

I love my cats, one of them is so clever he picks his own toys and chooses the same one depending on what time of day it is. He then returns them the basket.
