I fancy putting some speakers in the bathroom.

One possibilty is some small speakers (Mission M70s etc) in the corners but I'm not too keen on this.

I thought maybe I could get some ceiling speakers firing down over the bath.

What do you reckon? Anybody know any decent budget ones?

Anyone got any?

Shampoo recommendations?

...er, just wonderin. How you gonna change records, volume etc. if yer in the bath ? :) You'll need a remote controoled missus (or well trained children)

Seriously though, I'm sure I saw in a review yonks ago about some reasonably good small speakers designed for outdoor use (which should stop them going mouldy in the bathroom) ... problem is, I can't remember who. Boston Acoustics rings a bell though.

I think the kef ones can be had from hyperfi (the green adverts section in WHF) for cheap. Their sites shit though and the shop seems to get a lot of similar complaints to those aimed at richers, such as no stock!

JaMO used to offer some speakers that may be of interest. Even had some that doubled up as lights!!!

cheers

I've found the Linn's for £100 a pair which is reasonable I guess but more than I was thinking of spending.

I was just struck by a thought - car speakers!

I'll see if I can find a price for the Kefs

Hyperfi have the Kef Custom Install Ci130QS for £49.99 (RRP£106.99), and the QR version for £69.99.

Can't give a direct link, but if you go to their site and click on the link for "pdf's of all offers" They're on page 6.

You're going to have issues with rust if you don't get the right ones. Don't QED do some multi-room trickery?

I'd suggest any normal speakers (even in-wall, in-ceiling speakers) mounted in a bathroom ceiling is a bad idea as you get so much rising steam i.e. they'll end up knackered in no time.

I reckon your best bet would be a pair of marine speakers. What? I hear you ask.

Well, Blaupunkt do a range of "car marine" speakers - I think the car bit just means that they are basically car speakers but modified so that they can cope with being installed in a boat.

Anyway, they're white (which I assume is ideal) and they aren't that expensive.

Here is a link to the speakers: http://www.blaupunkt.co.uk/7606146001_main.asp

And here's a place selling them (for £50 a pair): http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/spkr4_1.asp

Finally, if you're feeling adventurous and want some more bass, they also do a subwoofer!

Matt.

cheers MO!

I've just checked at they do have them but the price is EACH so that's £100 for a pair.

Hyperfi have the NAD C541i (new) for £250 by the way.

Looks interesting Matt ;). I could fit it under the bath tub. Get the water rippling to the beat.

I have a Tivoli PAL radio in the bathroom, sounds great, has rechargeable batery, weather proof, so I can take it to the patio or pool, or wherever... :MILD:
