Cheaper "Stereophile"

Just went for this, looks like it could be interesting. First issue though was that the online installer doesn't work with Mozilla Firebird so I had to revert to IE6 to get the install :( and then the net install wouldn't work across the work firewall so I had to download the alternate installer (17Mb :eek: )

I have it up and running now and it looks pretty good! :)

Oh WOW! That reader software is SEXY! :p

They're not messing about when they say "virtual magainze". You really get the whole mag, ad pages and all, pages are scanned exact representations of the print magazin not getting an HTML version. It seems to be based around the .PDF format.

As you view each page you can zoom in and out intelligently and when you move your cursor to the top of the page you get a little "turn the page icon" and if you click....the page turns over, yes, you see the page physically turn over :cool:

The contents page is "clickable" and when you click on a heading you see the wad of pages turn over to get you to the right place :)

You can add your own highlights and notes and of couse there's a full text search.

This is absolutely the future of magazines! :banana:

Reading it at the airport/on the toilet/in the car is a little more expensive though :student:

is the reader software available for pda's / smartphones? i.e. can you have the reader and a copy of the mag on your pda?

AFAIK no - it isn't. Works well on laptops though ;) Read Stereophile on the plane back to Portugal last Friday...as if I couldn't have done that with the paper copy :D
