I know nothing of tube rolling, etc....

But for those interested, Farnell carry stock of valves from a company called "Chelmer Valve".

    They have:

    ECC83 @ £5.90
    EL84 @ £8.00
    EL34 @ £12.15
    KT88 @ £30.27
    6L6GC @ £11.80
    6L6WGC/5881 @ £18.83
    GZ34 @ £19.16

Not sure how these prices stack up, but hope they're of interest/use to someone.

CHelmer Valve are based in Essex, and offer a set of rebranded and reasonably priced tubes such as these, which usually originate in places like Russia,China etc,but also have a superb stock of NOS tubes at appropriate prices.

Chelmer have a good reputation as a company, Watford Valves is my favourite. I find Derek very helpful and practical, valves seem to be marked with their individual characteristics (can't remember what th enumbers stand for) specifically for whichever amps I tell Derek they are for. I have happily bought Svet winged 'C' EL34, various 6922 and ECC82, Sovtek 6B4G and Derek's own Harma brand and been pleased to date. If Chelmer are as good then I would say you are in good hands.

I bought 2 matched pairs of Chelmer 6SN7's for my amp.
After a while 2 of them developed microphany and then whistles and noises.
Took them out for old stock RCA/GEC/Sylvania's.

I must call them about how to proceed - see how good a company they are...

Contacted Chelmer and they will take back the suspect two and replace them.
