I never seem to see very much written on hifi forums about Denon amps, but I know their CD players are regarded to be fun sounding, lively players, so what about their amps? Has anyone heard any to form any opinion? They seem to be one of the more overlooked amps out there.

What about Harman Kardon, I've seen one or two fairly favourable internet reviews of a few of their models, but again, never many mentions of them on hifi boards here...

Denon amps are usually fairly forward sounding with good timing, as are Harman Kardons. I had a Denon PMA-450SE for a long time - great amp and much under-rated. (hard to come by though)

just read a review of a very very old skool Denon PMA850 amp of the late 70s...sheer sheer porn :D The PMA350SE is good, as the '1500.

Harman Kardon...yes i like their stuff too, especaially the Citation series. The HK1200 and '1400 straight line (i.e. record and listen selectors and thats your lot) amps are excellent too. I'll email you some that i see on ebay Paul :)

The PMA250SE is highly recommended. May be only 30 Watts but you'd never know listening to it. I sold mine to a guy who brought round a pair of JPW ML310s to try it with. Sounded superb for the money. Most impressive. (CD was the Alpha 9 though)

i use a denon receiver in my office set up, and they are a good piece of underated Kit. In addition to the one in the office I am considering one of their new amps in my main system. Good timing, slightly forward sound, well made. Would rather have denon than marantz or rotel at the respective price points.

My mate had a 255UK, it was a good little amp, it had a powerful bold sound bit it was a little bit too bright for my tastes. I guess its very good for dance fans although they may want a tad more power.

I personaly prefer the slightly smoother Marantz sound. I like a little warmth in the bass, although only a little as I hate boom.
