Just wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for some decent in-ear headphones for mp3 listening on the move. Main criteria are: good isolation for use on noisy tube trains etc, and reasonably efficient because the output from the music player on my phone that i'll be using them with is pretty measly. I don't think i want to be spending much more than about 50 quid at most ...

Yeah the CX300... pretty good really for something that costs about £20, and better than the rival Sony's.

I'd tend to favour the Shure's over the Etymotics TBH, as they have a fuller sound, the Ety's seem to sound a bit lean and "analytical" to my ears.

Thanks ... The shure e4c mentioned is a bit out of my budget - the e2c seems comparible to the sennheisers pricewise, anyone have any thoughts about how these two compare? Also i haven't used these kind of noise isolating phones before ... Are they definitely a better bet than normal earbuds? (bit worried that i'll end up getting run over if i'm too oblivious to the outside world!)

Well if you can get the E2C for £20, then go for it... cheapest i usually see is £50ish, and at twice the price, they dont have twice the sound in my experience, but they do sound alright and they are truly excellent at blocking out unwanted noise.

i'd 2nd / 3rd the recomendation for shure's i use e2c;s all the time an really rate them. the only drawback (with any in ear phone) is footfall sound if you are walking / jogging and the 'tin telephone effect' from wires rubbing if you don;t get them tensioned right. nether are deal breakers for me though.
