Electrostatic speakers

    For anyone interested in such things, the great granddaddy of electrostatic speaker patents appears to be US 1,983,377 of Edward W. Kellogg of General Electric (the US one). Here's a link to the EPO's Espacenet site, and you can even read the original document:

    This was granted in 1934, which means that, under the US law then existing, it would have expired in 1951. All the foreign equivalents would have expired earlier, meaning that anyone could then use the technology. "Walker's Little Wonder" appeared in 1957. Kellogg had the basic idea, but Walker made it work.

    The same in the car industry...someone invented the wheel and then the Rolls Royce engineers create a new model...all mankind works that way.

    Peter Walker are one of the more talented audio engineers that can be only compared with David Hafler, Harold Black,J.L.Hood and some few...
