    Ermm..how do you play a record with two concrete slabs and a bicycle inner tube?

    If it's something totally worthless, such as nearly any rock record, easy:

    1. Remove bicycle tube;
    2. Place record on concrete slab;
    3. Drop other concrete slab on record from great height.

    The musical reproduction made by the satisfying crunch far surpasses any of the noises on the record played conventionally.

    Pole position for the treatment. Pretentious noise.

    He he he - I *knew* Tones'd rise to the Led Zep bit :)

    I can think of plenty of alternatives for that slab/inner tube treatment - a certain Art Garfunkle record springs to mind ;)

    I think we can agree on the "modern day" bit of the sentence - as for the rest, you'd have to be able to swallow a lot, such as the existence of the tooth fairy and cables having an effect on the sound :D

    But at least with LZ you are hearing the composition how the "composer" meant it to be heard, with the stuff you listen to, your listening to a cover version :D

    It's his fault!

    Hey, hey mama, papa, children too, gonna con you blind, 'cos you want me to
    Ah, ah, gullibility's your thing, if you really think I can play and sing
    Hey, hey, babies, when you think that way, then your money drips in mah purse all day

    Ha-yeah, ha-yeah. ha! ha! ha! Ha-yeah, ha-yeah, ha! ha! ha!

    I gotta roll folk like you. Got Ferraris at heart, an' big mansions too
    Gorgeous bodies gleaming red, all I need's enough conn-ed

    Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

    Hey, babies, oh, babies, petty babies, tell me won't you let me do you now

    Didn't take too long 'fore I found out, that people can be messed about
    Take their money for mah car, make enough pretentious noise they think you're a star
    I now know once they've been sold, they're so easy to part from their gold

    All I ask for when I pray, steady rollin' spenders gonna come my way
    Need the tone-deaf, takin' them in hand, an' rip them off, make me a happy man.

    Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

    I think that's a misspelling. In the case of Mr. Page, "Decomposer" is what you naturally meant.

    Led Zep were vastly more popular during their career than any so called composer ever was.

    Their music continues to reach out and touch people from across the globe. That's the whole purpose of music - to touch the soul.

    It is not and never was an intellectual excercise, except for those whose hearts and souls died at birth. Any music that achieves it's goal, whether classical, rock, or any genre, should be feted. Only the ignorant are likely to mock.

    Reach out and touch, somebody's heart,
    Don't try to please a boring old fart,
