Fairford Airshow - Awesome!

Was at Fairford today, and what an awesome day it was.

Absolute highlight of the day was seeing the american B2A Spirit Stealth Bomber. This is a very very very creepy aeroplane...

Second to that was seeing the F117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter in formation with the Red Arrows.

Third was the very best Red Arrows display I've seen (I've seen them three or four times). Superb new maneouvres for this season, and the display gels so well.

Too many other good things to rank. There was absolutely no problem at all with the traffic (15 mins wait to get in at about 10am, 0 mins wait by 11am).

220 odd photos shot, so somewhere in all of that there should be one or two decent ones...
 
Could seriously ruin any cred that I may have at all by contributing to this thread......but are the Arrows flying Hawks nowadays, I remember watching them flying Hawks ion my old days of Farnbororugh, Paris....:D
 
Yes, they're still flying hawks, as they have since the late 70s. There isn't really anything better for a display team.

Well, today the B2 made two passes straight over where I live... scary thing.

Hmmm ....

I remember them when they flew Gnats out of RAF Kemble, as a child you saw them most days flying over Tetbury.
 
But isn't the Hawk the lineal descendant of the old Folland Gnat? (In fact, isn't it pretty much the same aeroplane?)

Oops, excess vino, meant to say Gnats :o

Fine team, used to get a bit omnipresent though but were much better then the Frecce Tricolori (from France can't remember what they used to fly now tho)

They are from Italy and thay fly MB339's and are just mental. The way the bloke flies down the runway with flaps and undercart down and weaving in circles is just awesome!!!!

Well, here's one of the very few flight shots I took with the D30 (the vast majority of flight shots were taken with the EOS 3, and are awaiting developing):

The Frecce Tricolori put in an appearance, but it was nowhere near as impressive as the red arrows display IMO. It was a bit disjointed and the solo aircraft just did high-speed passes (as compared to the opposing passes and carousel and other insane manoeuvres from the red arrows).

Yesterday (second public day of fairford) the B2 put in an appearance again, and made two passes over the house here, which was quite a bonus!
 
living just a stones theow away from old warden and the shuttleworth collection its always a good day out to go down there on one of their flying days. the sound of a spitfire or hurricane at full chat a couple of hundred feet above your head is just amazing and i think some of the romance is lost with a jet engines roar. that said i've not been to a modern airshow in ages the last one was in the 70's at farnborough when the concorde was the big news.
