I don't mind doing this again. hehehe...i'll represent the good ol' stuff, it's 'rarely seen yet very attractive hifi', and it serves up the goodies too. Probably not what you had in mind, but i don't care :p

When I was a teenager, I used to walk past a hifi shop in Kingston-upon-Thames where they used to keep the lights down low so that you could appreciate the blue glow of all their Sansui gear as you walked by. Fab :D

ps. That is one ugly cassette deck.

    hi-fi porn

My idea of hi-fi porn is of the 12inch black vinyl playing verity that comes in the bi-monthly edition of hifi pluss.

The latest edition Issue 24 July-August 2003 is entitled “Vinyl Survival†and covers such instruments of aural delight as VPI TNT HRX , Brinkmann Legrange , Bluenote Bellavista and others. I am tempted to buy all these decks on the pictures in this mag alone, they are works of art so who cares what they sound like!

A real hi-end hi-fi fetish if ever I heard one.

Shame on you Chris - the CT-F900 is one of the bulkiest, coolest decks known to man, and I want one :)

Mind you, a Nak RX series deck that turns the tape round at end of side would be cool!

    Here's some random speakers...

Apart from the Epos's your speaker choices look positivly camp. Minipods in a 'I watch freinds and sex in the city' sort of way and those Yammys...."Lets doo the time waarp agaaiin. Just a step to the right etc etc"

Whatever floats your boats, but if your after something a tad less effeminate try these....

Yammys? I see no Yammys. I see a pair of woefully dire Wharfedales. I actually has the misfortune to hear some of those in a shop once. Absolutely aweful - but very very loud!

Guess you were thinking of these...

Now those are Yammys. I used to lust after these in my youth. They sound rather good.

You gots me there TBear. I guess my brain was off doing its own thing again and my typing fingers were switched to remote operation.:)

The Yams (NS100?) used a berylium tweeter IIRC - as does those hulking JMLabs utopiaBEs. HiFiWorld love em to bits.

    Wharfdales. Pants IMHO.

Hmmm, the picture is no longer working. F*cking geocities, grrr, mutter!

The Yamaha NS1000 not only had a berylium dome tweeter, it also had a berylium dome midrange. So long as you didn't push it to silly levels, it sounded very good. I quite liked the look too but you could always leave the grilles on.

    Let's try this one...

    Or this one...

Yeah - I stuck the Wharfs in there for their total mingingness - but what's wrong with Minipods? Sure they're a bit girlie girl in the fact they have all the curves in the right places - but thank F&$K they aren't boring boxes....

come on dom those minipods are a bit barbarella....
what you want is some o'heocha's spiky war of the world specials..

for me though the b&w nautilus (not the 800 series the origional mad looking ones) is just the sexiest piece of hi-fi ever, i don't care what they sound like...if i had the money i'd have a pair in a heartbeat and then spend money until they did sound good.

    cheers

    Julian,
good photo - it remindes me of a HR Giger designed lifeform hibernating deep within the Nostromo.

    Lamboy,
I agree about the cover photograph, it looks like a union made in Photoshop between a long dead Russian dictator and the captain of a star ship.
