Without doubt that was the largest page of mess I have ever seen, presumably not mac compatible.

There is an error in the cold fusion script which is why we can't see it.

Sorry, don't know what you mean. If the above link doesn't work for you try going to www.germancarfans.com and click on the relevant news item.

Now, if a MOnkey can do it...

My apologies MO, couldn't resist, seemed like an opportunity too good to waste :D.

call me old fasioned but in my opinion anything that draws the driver eyes away from the view through the windscreen ahead of the car can never be called a safety aid.!!!

In the circumstances shown in the pictures on that page the driver should have his full beam on and be driving slowly and cautiously enough to be able to stop well within the distance that he can see clearly within his own headlights. End of story !

That system is just a recipe for disaster as yet another so called safety feature that makes the driver erroneously believe he can drive faster and more recklessly than the conditions allow.

GTM, I agree. I don't think that it's quite the safety aid that it appears to be. Unless of course the driver only relies on the night vision and doesn't look through the windscreen at all, as the armed forced seem to do in one of their ads. :). OTOH, if it detects an object from 300m away, perhaps a co-pilot .... no let's not go there.:)

Apart from knightrider I don't know who this would be useful for?

My experience of BMWs coming the other way is that the hologen headlights are plenty bright (looks like full beam half the time) the pictures on that website almost suggest he does not have his light on.

The research would have been better spent on an electric steering wheel which delivers an electric shock to **** BMW drivers when they inevitably do something dangerous, park their car firmly up everyones ar.se hole or fail to use indicators.

As an ex-BMW driver (sold 4 days ago) I must say I wouldn't have worried about such a gizmo, I preferred to keep my headlights on full beam at all times (day or night), that way if anyone was blind(ed) enough not to see me coming then it was entirely their own fault for being too stupid to have not bought a car equal to mine:D

What's all this anti-BMW-owner nonsense anyay? Do you really believe that they're generally bad or inconsiderate drivers? Or is it an innate feeling of jealousy or inadequacy on your part born by the knowledge that you should be driving a bit of Teutonic perfection yourself? Ha ha.

    P.S. What are indicators?

Not jealous in the least, if I were at all interested in cars I would get a Merc.

I work at a private school, in order of driving observation poorness:

    BMW driven by women
    BMW driven by men.
4x4 driven by women (this is hilarious at pick up time it really is.)

What it is that makes people become wnakers in BMWs I will never know but sure as eggs is eggs the worse ands most dangerous driving always seems to have a BMW badge on the front of it. And never have I seen a BMW Driver thank you for pulling over on small lanes, apparently its their right.

My mate has T registered BMW 318 from the late 90's and he becomes a ****er behind the wheel. I now refuse to be a passenger with him,not only do I feel sick because of his erratic driving I dont feel safe. Also have you seen how poorly the 300 series from the 90's performed in the NCAP crash tests:eek:

My uncle had a BMW 750 which was brand new at the time, when he drove that he never indicated or anything, now he has a Skoda Fabria Diesel because a major part of his business went under and he now indicates every where.

people tend to treat you according to their preconceptions about the car you drive - i drive a kiddie bus so people try to bully me on the road because they think i'm a soccer mum - they get a shock when they see a 16 stone 6ft bloke behind the wheel. conversely in the lexus everyone gave way - probably because they though the occupant was a pimping gangster who'd pop a cap in their bitch ass as soon as look at them. perhaps bmw drivers drive like gits because we all expect them too?

I used to drive a dented Volvo estate - and people kept well away from me - I suspect because the car had "Doesn't give a damn about knocks and scrapes" written all over it. Now I drive a 25 year old Merc W123 saloon (old but still very shiny and posh looking - certainly no dents) and people still keep well clear _ suspect because its one step away from a Tiger tank :)

I think it is more about the size of the car, if you have lots of airbags and fancy breaks you will probably drive worse than say if you were driving a SEAT Marbela which offers all the safety of being trapped in a combine harvester.

Edit my dad used to drive a Lada, it was a slow old thing but the 1.2 litre engine still had a bit of power, people used to cut in front all of the time because they thought they could get away with it. This never happened in the Punto or Escort unless people are being cheeky.

In the Lada it was impossible to go anywhere without people overtaking. The joke was the car could easily beat a mini in a straight line. It was just corners the Lada could not cope with.

To be honest I reckon I did feel a different in my BMW rather than some of my other cars, but this is because it was such a great thing to drive - great driving position, great engine, great handling, and an overwhelming feeling of quality about every part of it. It was not an expensive nor new car (M reg 318i with 105k on the clock) but it drove like brand new and never ever let me down, and not too thirsty nor expensive to insure to boot!

Always put a smile on my face, and as far as I can tell I was no more of a w**ker within it than without (and you'll have to reserve judgement as to whether that makes any difference unless you have the good fortune to meet me:D ) - unless I came across beaten up old Volvo's (of which I've had one also), and then I just had a strange sense of pity ;)

I love old Mercs though, I must admit to a suspicion of jealousy here....! I had to sell my car to buy a van, so I'll turn into white van man instead - is that better or worse than a BMW driver? Ha ha... Not that I care of course:MILD:

Mr Trade your assumption is incorrect because the worlds slowest drivers are volvo drivers.

I have no idea how people fit into these stereotypes but its fact, I have never seen anyone driving badly in a volvo (except really bloody slowly)

Whats the general consensus on Seat drivers?
