I don't usually post here but thought any turtable guys here may be interested in a project I've just finished today.

I bought one of Gert Pedersen's mod kits for my Orbe SE and added a new paint job to boot. You can have a nose via this link if you are interested. I'm letting it settle for a few days with the platter spinning (thanks for the tip Lawrie ;) ) and will fit my modded Kontrapunkt B and see what happens...

I had my Orbe SE upgraded with the full Gert Pedersen treatment in January. It has now had two months to bed in, and I have made the adjustments to the O Ring suspension system. So, what do I think of it .... ?

It is an absolute revelation! I had the upgrade done by one of Gert's UK contacts (Gary in Leyton Buzzard). I dropped my Orbe off at his house and returned 2 weeks later to collect the finished item. Gary had advised me that the first thing that I would notice was just how quiet the background would be after the upgrade .... he wasn't wrong. Music comes from a perfect inky black background; there is none of the "ringiness" that was there with the original Orbe. The bass is much more solid, and the music sounds and feels so much more believable.

I would recommend this upgrade to anyone with a Michell Orbe. My brother owns a Gyro, and he is about to order Gert's upgrade for that on my recommendation.

As a matter of interest, how much did it cost to have your Orbe done?

Including the £100 I gave to Gary to do the work it was about £650. Worth every penny.

Another happy Pedersen upgrade user here.
Gary fitted the kit to my Gyro in January '07. Very handy since he only lives 5 miles away from my house.
