I am getting a little bit worried as I have read a thread on another forum (headfi) that my headphones the HP890 are not very well built and tend to crack after about 8 months and the cable input socket fails, occasionaly it comes loose now so I its likely to be case in mine.

I bought them from crappy Dixons so if they break physically can I still return them under the guarentee to get them repaired or will Dixons blame me?

    heres a thought...
print out a copy of that thread, take it to the manager of that branch and get him to give his verdict, if necessary, obtain a signature so if the worse happens, you're in the clear.
