Had a track on a tape a while back. Not sure if it was a mix tape, or a whole album (was very diverse from what I remember).

Had an excellent bass line and mentioned Mugwump Jism, which I assume is refering to Laked Lunch?

I'm sure I've got another tune somewhere that uses the same bass line, but can't think where.

    Any ideas?

Mugwump jism is certainly a Naked Lunch reference. I've got the soundtrack album of the not-very-good film, because Ornette Coleman's on it, but I don't recall a track that sounds like your description. Will give it another listen.

Cheers. I don't remember it from the film either.

The bass line is a fast and funky one. I'm trying to remember lyrics, something about "trying hard to not blow my cover". Upbeat sort of hip hop/electro-rock tune kinda thing.... it's been a while

There was also another tune on the tape (again, I've no idea if it was a mix or whole album), with a sort of spoken thing (terribly english from what I remember), with a guy discribing his drug habbit. Runs out of places to inject and all his veins collapse. And possibly a tune about vampires

I'm positive the bass line is on another album too, but can't think where to start.

Ah, if it's fast and funky hip hop stylee it's not the soundtrack, which is all orchestral apart from Ornette's bits.

No idea. I like the sound of this tape though.

Probably not as good as it sounds. But I remember loving it at the time (mid 90's?).

Lads, it's "Bug Powder Dust" by Bomb the Bass.
The Naked Lunch reference is spot on.

mO, there's an excellent version of it on "The K&D Sessions" by Kruder & Dorfmeister :snigger: .

It [the original] is a stonking track and has one of the best basslines ever written IMO  .

It would make a great phone ringtone too :D .

[I think it's time to discuss your … ah …
Philosophy of drug use as it relates to artistic endeavor]

    Check it, yo!
I always hit the tape with a rough road style
You heard the psychdelic and ya came from miles
Keep my rhymes thick like a Danish brew
So you could call me black and tan when I'm a wreckin' a crew
I'm like Bill Lee whacking when he's in Tangiers
And now I'm out on the sole surviving with my Beatnik peers
Analog reel and a little distortion
Smokin' on somethin' s'you could say I'm scorchin'
I never been the type to rap up a well
Make a man burn his draft card like it was hell
Send ya up the river like you lookin' for Kurtz
I got the mugwump jism up in every verse

    (Refrain 2x)
Bug powder dust a mugwump jism
And the wild boys runnin' into some trippin'
Led into control about the Big Brothah
Try like hard to not blow my cover

Who's that man in the windowpane
Got somethin' on his tongue and it's startin' to stain
Sho' nuff equip so wop n'get dancester
Butt bond my ladder and you'll get beat down
Hash bond style so I'm singin' day glow
Wakin' up the dead like serpent and the rainbow

Kick off the shoes and relax your feet
Now roll up your sleeves for this lyrical treat
    (...)

found where else the bass line features :)

DJ Food "Dark Lady" which is on the Ninjatune Zen CD

When googlin' the lyrics seems it's also on the Prodigy's Dirt Chamber Sessions too.
