I bought a Steinberg UR12 and a Shure SM7 microphone with the intention of hearing myself in my ears, but there is a delay. I went into my sound settings and clicked listen to myself in the playback checkbox, which lets me hear myself, but with a delay. Any ideas how to fix this?

The delay is the time it takes for the tape to move from the record head to the playback head. One can create echo with this feature, such as that of the old Revox and Ferrograph machines. You need to take your audio from the record input to your headphones. If you try to do the same with loudspeakers you will just cause ring-round/howling.

Looking at the manual, isn't that what the 'Direct Monitor' switch does? It should switch between the direct feed and the output of the recording App.
