OK this is a rather nonesence Jeremy Clarkson way of measuring a system. Who has the biggest?

Cost does not matter.

I have all these items connected to my HIFI system.

Speakers
Headphones
Amp
CD Player
DVD player
digital freeview box
DAC
Preamp
Nicam VHS recorder
Soundcard
Turntable
FM radio

My amp is literly the hub of my life!

Amp
Headphone Amp
Headphones (from headphone amp)
PC
Sky+
DVD player (might sell it soon though)
Speakers

Not many for me.

amp
CDP
DAB tuner
Turntable (almost)
Soundcard
Speakers
Headphones

naff all really.
Might get a freeview box soon but would prob get a PC one so I guess that wouldnt count.

connected:

CD transport, to
DAC, to
amp, to
pair of speakers
+
dvd player, to
TV, and
AVamp (to amp above), to
subwoofer, and
centre speaker, and
pair of speakers
+
Sky+ box, to
Nicam vcr (to AVamp above)
+
headphones, and
cassette player (to amp above)

that's 14, not splitting speaker pairs (else 16)

I am looking to add a tuner, and I have 2 turntables (not in use: PL12d & Systemdek), and someone wants me to buy a minidisk to do some integrating A-> D. No wonder my other half thinks I'm fragmented - I think that's what she said.

[does a Mana stand count as an extra component? Its not connected but it is meant to make a difference.]

head-amp

Hmmm, no wonder none of your systems sound as good as mine:

CD Player

Amplifier

Speakers

Or as the 1st law of engineering puts it:

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid!

Yes this is a Jeremy Clarkson style thread. Sound quality does not matter, its purely about boxes!

Chris, You wanna bet?
Yes please! I'm willing to bet that your system sounds better than mine. It bloody well should considering how much more it cost :D

Actually, I inadvertently mis-stated my box count :shame:

So well does it do its job and so thoroughly does it blend in that I sometimes forget I have a subwoofer

CDP
Computer
DAC
Tape Deck (I've only just reconnected it.... don't actually USE it)
Integrated Amp
Speakers

Here we go...

TT
Phono preamp
preamp/processor
CD transport
DVD player
Mini disc recorder
Sky+ box
VCR
DVD recorder
TV
centre channel power amp
right channel power amp

nearly forgot, there's a Behringer Feedback Destroyer for the sub but it isn't connected yet. I've run out of mains sockets :)

Hey, I might actually win this if we stick to source components! I have more stuff than inputs on the amp or space in the roomââ'¬Â¦

Always connected:

Tom Evans Microgroove phono stage
Marantz 4100OSE DVD Player (currently handling CDs too)
Sky Digibox
TV (TV outputs also handle the video via SCART)
Johnson J-Station guitar amp simulator to play bass & guitar
Tascam US-122 USB audio breakout box for my laptop

Plugged in when required:

Quad FM3 or Luxman T-111 analogue tuners
Sony 3 head cassette deck
Samson rack mixer
Shergold Masquerader guitar
Shergold Meteor guitar
Shergold Marathon bass
Shergold Marathon fretless bass
Yamaha RM1X drum machine / sequencer
Korg MS2000 'virtual analogue' synth
Can Opener headphone thingy

I've also got a spare amp and 2 pairs of spare speakers...

Tony.
