about the relation between gain (db) and Watts, with special reference to the impact of 'active' pre-amps on output from poweramps.

eg If an 'active' pre-amp has output has 10W, and the poweramp 60W, then what is the max Watt for the combo?

If this is not a sensible question, pl have a go at educating me, or point me to something on the web that I could read.

Be gentle, pretend I'm not very knowledgeable but am educatable :)

(comment: I'm a subjectivist who recognises that somethings that are measurable matter ... and altho I have good maths, I've little physics)

    Hi

Along as the pre has enough gain or power to swing the input of a power amp to full then the final O/P will be that of the power amp this is described as the I/P sensitivity of the power amp and usually expressed in m-volts.
