You considered the cheaper (and more versatile) Shure, the inexpensive AKG
bar, or the very expensive but extremely accurate Schoeps?

Continuing in the tradition of not answering the direct question (OK,
my answer is "no"), I'll add the moderately expensive AEA stereo
    "positioners."

Scott, the Neumann STH 100 is designed to hold two Neumann "active
capsules" of the KM 100 series on special, thin accessory cables (which
connect at their other ends to a pair of KM 100 or KM 100F amplifier
bodies), rather than two complete microphones.

If a person asks for the STH 100, it is probably because a particularly
small, lightweight, visually unobtrusive setup is required. It seems
unlikely that he can equally well use any of the other devices that
    have been mentioned.

I admire your faith that the asker actually knows exactly what he's
asking for. Some do, some don't know the whole story. Maybe if he finds
one, he'll be asking about the extension cables. Or maybe this is
exactly what he wants. When asking for something that's pretty much out
of the mainstream, it's useful if the seeker indicates that it's not
just a plain ol' stereo bar, and describes what's unusal about it.

Ahh! Like the Schoeps UMSC! Got it!
Doesn't Rycote also make a little X-Y thing for remoted capsules?
It's probably as much or more money, though.

(To the original poster: You have mail, if Google's email interface is
    working as it should.)
Mike, it's not so much faith as it is first-hand experience from the
other side of this process. Two years ago I asked for advice here
regarding a portable CD player, and I mentioned one specific
requirement as being the most important. Next morning, I logged on and
was greeted by eight to ten messages suggesting various MP3
players--but none that mentioned any CD players.

I replied by saying that no, my application really was for playing CDs.
I then got further responses from some people saying how much better
the sound of MP3 players has gotten in recent years, and that I should
really consider those instead. I gave up and did my own shopping.

Certainly, some folks misunderstand what they're asking about. But even
when we suspect that, why not answer their direct questions first if we
can, as a courtesy if for no other reason? Then we can express our
doubts and reservations, and let the original poster follow up if those
    seem pertinent.

Scott, I don't know of any Schoeps product called a UMSC, but perhaps
you were thinking of the UMS 20, which holds complete microphones in a
variety of arrangements (M/S, X/Y, ORTF). In terms of Colette capsules
on active cables or the CCM series, I was thinking more of the M 100 C
    myself.

In any event you can see a nice picture of the Neumann STH 100 on

Ah, well if that's what he really wants, there's no real substitute.
Nor do I see how anyone who has actually seen it (now that I have)
could mistake it for a more conventional stereo mount.

My apologies to the original poster, but I'll add "good luck."

    thanks all...

yes, im looking for sth-100, as previously stated.
I am often just running the capsules via the lc3 active cables. I want
this bar bescause it does all my favorite stereo techniques w/the ak40
    capsules.
    ortf
    xy of various angles...
and the (unknown by most) DIN technique by using one of the XY bars
w/the ORTF bar, and it works out to exactly 90deg x 17cm.

    but any way...
its what i need to complete my ensamble, and get away from my home made
    holder for the actives.

    thanks all...
anyone who has a SKM kit has one of these. so if you are not using it?
    :)
