Couldn't see a problem myself, I thought the slaughtermen were very professional, just hope all establishments are of similar standards

But do you really think they are?

I agree they seemed to do it in as "humane" way as possible, as was being said quite often during the show. But I can't help but think there's nothing humane about taking life unnecessarily.

I think it's one about lamb on tonight.

but is it unnecessary if the animal is to be eaten? to my mind eating meat is an essential part of my diet.

If we define essential as being you can't live without it, then it is unnecessary taking of life.

We don't need to eat meat, it's a choice.

i need certain vitamins, minerals, aminos, etc. in order to function properly. my body has evolved to get these from a balanced diet including both meat and veg, that's why i have molars and incisors, i'm an omnivore.
yes i could survive without eating meat but then i'd not enjoy my food as much and my farts would stink (worse).
i do on occasion enjoy vegetarian meals however going fully veggie smacks to me of king canute and his little problem with the tide.

also, think on this - if a significant portion of the world became vegetarian you'd be in direct competition with cows, sheep, pigs etc for land to grow food for your new found sensibilities, effectively they'd have to be classed as vermin and systematically culled or exterminated to make room for all the new food crops necessary. and to stop wild cows, sheep and pigs eating the crops that are grown.

What competition? they'd lose:). I thought the vast majority of cows, sheep and pigs are farmed and without farmers their population wouldn't be anywhere near what it is.

    Perhaps.

It's also often said about vegetarians living longer, healthier lives and being less prone to disease. I'm unsure if this is "hard fact".

The way I see it is simple. We don't NEED to eat meat. We can live healthy (healthier?) without it. So it's killing for pleasure.

I don't think the aim of the program is to put people off meat. But to make them aware of what they're actually eating. That shrink wrapped cut of beef or whatever was once a living animal and the process it has gone through to reach the plate.

    Like I said, it's a choice.

From our very long digestive tract it is easy to see humans are mainly designed to eat a vegetarian diet. We may have a few teeth for ripping meat but they are very small. Sorry, but we are not really supposed to be meat eaters, but we can if we have to.

I like some meat though, so I will eat it. I do find it hard to get enough protein otherwise. Having been vegetarian for about 11 years previously I don’t think my diet will ever include as much meat as most people though and I am really fussy about the quality. Most meat is very nasty stuff.

    I thought it was disgusting!

That steak should of been hung for at least 3 weeks before being cooked.

Quite right. Fresh is not necessarily best for beef.
