Just read that tonights show is the last one in the series. :( Only 6 shows. Criminal that its so short. Mind you they must be scraping the barrel, Simply Red are on :D

That does rather suck of desperation, you're right. If they've been having the likes of them on there, then maybe only 6 episodes a series isn't so bad?

Who's been on the latest series? I heard that Peter Gabriel was on one of the first in the series, around the time of the UK dates. It's just a shame that programmes such as this are banished to the late night slot when those who'd be interested are either out partying or already asleep.

The programme that Mark Radcliffe used to front on C4 used to be good, The White Room. LwJH is certainly the nearest thing we have to that now, but music TV generally is very poor at the moment.

Ian

Last week they had a cracking set from Grandaddy, the Yeah Yeahs were dull.

Try BBC4 they have lots of artists that people here have raved about doing live sessions.

The White Room was par excellence. The first series really had some great performances but given that it was recorded/broadcast in the mighty summer of '95 (may have been '96 ???) certainly helped as there was a lot of new and good music kicking around. Scrapped after the second series - criminal.

Later.... as rightly stated is about the only decent music program on TV and I for one will be gutted when it goes off air.

Shame.

Why can't they just move it to BBC3 and out it on earlier.

"Not so Late with Jools Holland."

Agreed (especially the g/f bit) but I'm an hour ahead so it's a right bugger !

Recently there has been a rerun of the whisle test, which i found interesting, since i was to young to remember most of the 70's. Why the BBC don't make a new series i don't know, as it would surely be a success. Maybe the big music labels, don't think the Albums of most groups/bands they are pushing are very good; and it might hit sales.

There are a lot of bands on small labels who never get a chance these days.

OK who watched it ?
How absolutely raaaawk were "The Darkness".

TFB !

Just a shame they never played "Get your hands off my woman".

They're gonna be huuuuuuuuuuuge !

:JPS:

I thought they were hilarious!

the lead guitarist/singer was like a cross between mick jagger and billy idol!

I think they are going to be big among young people anyway- they are on the cover of Kerrang I noticed for starters.

Really entertaining, but surreal going straight from that to an interview with tony benn!

but the outfit was pure Dave Lee Roth/ Phil Mogg !!!!

I guess enough time has passed for the yoof to see them as something new but even to someone who remembers the first time round they were indeed highly entertaining

Thought the Darkness were highly entertaining. Mick Hucknall, on the other hand was a *@%^ !#%$^&*

Must confess I'd never heard much Moloko, but was struck on Friday by how much Roisin Murphy sounded like (Laura Campbell) the singer from MULU (one album in 1997 Smiles like a Shark)) - now whatever happened to them ????

later with JH should become a little earlier. I can't stay awake that late on a friday. although i did grit my teeth enough to watch Joe jackson the other week. he missed two opportunities to play it's different for girls so i went to bed. I think he's been at the slimfast.

I wonder where have I been all this time. I just started watching Later with Jools after reading very good reviews from people like this forum.

However, I have the impression the singers he invite is a mix lot. Some of the times they are truly wonderful. At other time they can be really awful. That is my impression anyway. Never the less, Jools introduce everyone as if they are some great artists. Is that always been the case?
