I was looking for a particular kind of switch box, which turned out to be far too expensive. However, it did start me thinking (oh! the pain). And the thought (my first and last for the month) went like this. Would it be worthwhile having for hire at some central location a number of small, easily-postable items that members could borrow for a small fee to try out? I'm thinking of the DeMagic currently doing the rounds, but also the infamous green pen (perhaps even with "before" and "after" CDs), perhaps a power cord or two, or some desirable interconnects. The member desiring to hear them would undertake to pay all postal charges from the library and a small charge to cover usage (in the case of things to be consumed, such as the green pen or a contact improver) and general wear and tear, and to fund the purchase of new stuff of interest.

Good idea Mr Tones. Let's see what the reaction from other members is and perhaps Mark or Isaac can tell us how easily (or not!) it can be implemented.

Would very much like something to be organised along these lines, though implementation is the key to avoid disputes over ownership, usage, potential damage and so forth :)

I said in a thread on another forum the other day (one started by Mr Sukebe who also posts here) that there are so many 'tweakish' items that I'm sure many want to try that are actually quite expensive to buy if they make no audible difference, for example I'd love to try a load of stillpoints under my cd player but don't really have the cash to splash if they do nothing or make the sound worse. Some idea of community 'try before you buy' scheme would be excellent IMHO. I appreciate others with many thousands worth of kit may think nothing of £50 here or there but to some of us it mounts up fast! :(

I'm willing to 'donate' 8 Atacama spike shoes and 3 Michel tenderfeet, (none of which I currently use so i figure others here are welcome to try them as long as they cover my postage costs!) to be used as part of any such scheme :)

I've some Auralex stuff that I use but not all the time: the Gramma amp stand and some MoPad speaker stuff. I have used the former under the sub but am now using the latter.
