    Hi all.
In the process of tinkering with my CD player.
I'm looking to do a bit of opamp rolling. Already using OPA2227's but wanted to try the above and having trouble getting hold of them.
Anyone have any spares lying around?

Why not look at a new I/V stage, something like the Pass labs. Theres a clone over on diyaudio, you can buy all the pcb's inc. psu. Just an idea.

    Cheers guys.

Isaac, i looked at Farnell this morning. They only have them in stock at Newark all in one which is in the USA so they want around £15 for delivery. I'll order from them as a last resort but with delivery costing more than the parts i thought i'd try here first

T-bone, haven't really looked into that side of things yet..maybe in the future.
Diyaudio have a huge thread on mods people have performed on the Cd63(over 500 pgs)and i'm working my way through the ones i feel competent enough to do.

What I have read of the proposed CD63 modifications, a lot seem to centre around replacing the HDAMs with op-amps. Surely the CD53 is thus a better start point (as the only differences between it are the 53 already has opamps rather than HDAMs and the 53 lacks an optical out (but still has coax))?

I have a 53 with the ground-bounce modification. It gets (understandably) stomped on from a great height by my modified CD16 as a transport into either of my DACs.

    Isaac,

the Cd63 does use opamps(njm2114s), the Hdam circuit acting as a buffer for these. Once the ops are upgraded the Hdam's extra components actually degrade the signal. I've bypassed the buffer(a popular mod)and it really does improve clarity and detail noticeably.

The OPA2227s i'm using are rather good but i've heard there are much better and it won't break the bank to try them.

I'll probably try them at a later stage Nick. I would order direct from analog devices but they only accept credit card or trade account, neither of which i have. If no one here has any spares they're willing to sell, i'll either use Farnell or bribe a credit card holding chum with a few shandies

Setup a login on the analog devices web page and you can order pairs of free samples. It costs nothing. You dont need to give them any card details.

Cheers Nick tried that but all i could get was samples of AD8066(dual version or 8065)and AD86220(dual 8610).
Unfortunately, these only come in soic type cases rather than the direct drop in DIP8 size so i'll need some Brown Dog converters to try them.
    The search is still on....
