    Hi Folks

In conjunction with The Hi-Fi Subjectivist forum members I am sponsoring and organising a London Bake-Off show for Sunday October 31st 2010 from 9am to 7pm, price £10. It is not like Scalford, people don't own rooms or even share rooms, it will be like a themed hotel based domestic bake-off. The themes will be 1. Computer based audio / digital 2. Vinyl based audio / record decks, cartridges, phono stages, suts 3. Amplifiers / valve v SS 4. Speakers 5. To be decided. Two people will volunteer to run each of the rooms. Attendees bring something in the bake-off catagories or to provide equipment for the base systems, or if you want then just music. Rooms can mix and match gear but responsibility for set up and change is with the room bosses and the owners of the gear being changed, no one else touches for safety and damage sake.

    http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/tra...arriott-hotel/

The hotel is 200m from Junction 26 Waltham Cross on the M25 north of London. They have a small wing off the main foyer that is self contained with 5 meeting rooms, all big enough for at least 20 to 30 people to listen, all opening onto a large square seating area with coffee and tea facilities. Own side entrance from car park for access, unloading etc. This wing is mostly used for business meetings, conferences etc. It is a fine hotel with large bar, restaurants and health spar and swimming pool.

Here is a pic of the foyer area the rooms open out onto, it is ours to use to chat have coffee etc in and the dem rooms are around it.

Members at ZG can register interest and volunteer to help here in this thread and the show will be open to other forums and other forum member to participate, it is just that for political reasons I cannot link to or tell Hi-Fi Wigwam or Art of Sound members about it. *ALL* other forums and *ALL* other individuals and non members are welcome, the show will be an industry truce to all belligerents.

It should be fun and informative and I hope lots of you can come and join us for the day.

PS this is not an nva event.

Good luck with the event Richard.
Good to see a different approach being tried.

There have been comments that people still think this is an nva show or somehow with an nva bias. So I am relinquishing any command and decisions regarding this show to a commitee made up of the Room Bosses and a couple of spares including a rep from this forum. It will be entirely this groups decision how the Bake-Off show progresses from here.

No trade member will be allowed to be on this commitee and my responsibility from now on is purely sponsorship and underwriting the show costs as my name is on invoice for the hotel.

This could be a brilliant event and I don't want my controversial nature and reputation to keep people from getting involved. So come on get involved and volunteer as a commitee member to help make this happen and continue it as an annual event.

People shouldn't be so quick to judge and this could potentially be an excellent event.

People should forget the politics and go along with the intention of having a good time.

Our industry shows are becoming increasingly dominated by AV and gimmicks so please support true enthusiast events such as this.

Thanks Rob can you appoint or invite a non trade member of this forum to represent ZG on the committee and also is it is possible as it is a forum based event to make this thread a sticky. We have someone being appointed from Art of Sound and we are asking for a volunteer from Pinkfish membership. We already have 5 from the Hi-Fi Subjectivist on the committee as they are running rooms. We also need more volunteers for running the rooms and those people are automatically on the committee. So any non trade here interested.

The committee can just run from a thread on the forums so no need for meet up until much nearer the event It would be easier for you if volunteers are from London or the South East.

    Room Bosses so far:-

Computer Audio / DACs Room = Uglymusic and Figlet108.
    Subs bench = cliffyboy

Turntables / Carts / Arms / Phono Stages Room = JimKempton and Gromit.
    Subs bench = ?

Speakers Room = Zener and ?
    Subs bench = ?

    Amplifiers Room = ? and ?
    Subs Bench = ?

Cables and Mains Doodahs Room = Docfoster and ?
    Subes Bench = ?

I know Zener refers to himself as trade but I consider it fringe enough for his inclusion. And that way we get representation of LesW and his products which is something missing from other shows.

    Volunteer needed for the committee.
Doesn't seem like anything too heavy or onerous is involved so if anyone fancies this please send me a PM.

LindsayT now first boss of amp room. We now need a solid state man to balance him + a sub. And Docfoster needs one more boss and a sub in the Cable and Mains Doo-Dahs room. Perhaps we need a cable sceptic for this one - I volunteer Rob Holt if he is interested!!!!!

Absolutely no way on the cables as I'm only interested in AB and ABX testing - cannot be done under those show condition as you need need very robust controls over the process and a static listening audience.

I'll think about helping Lindsay in the Amp room and can bring something along.

What speakers are going to be in the amp room?

I'm just clarifying that we have a choice of models to choose from as some amps are more fussy/suited than others.

If we can select and swap speakers on the day, go on, I'll do the amp room with Lindsay.
