Does a mains filter benefit on a DVD palyer?

In my stituation, the socket is earthed, but the cable is class II from the player (double isolated)

    Will a comercial filter help?
I think a good one is from Chacon
    Are there tips or suggestions?

people seem to have different results with filters, some like the effects others dont.
I think some of it will depend if you use a choke based design or not, impedance in the supply can have bad results.

    some info here -

    http://www.triode-systems.com/filter_design.htm

I made one from the design mentioned on that page, but without the choke. Took a week or so to settle in, then it was OK.
I would say that for me, it had no noticeable improvement to sound, but helped to remove pops and clicks and some background noise.

The design from the chacon in-wall socket has 2 inductors, of 2.5mm2 conductor, the internal wire is also 2.5mm2.

In the two conductors is a insert, I think its a ferit or something.

The max absorption of this filter is 3450 J, pretty high I think.
The max current is 1500 A.

Does a filter work, when it is not earthed?
Does a shielded power cable work when it's not earthed (I have heard that the radiation must be drain away by the earth, to have a good result)

the problem with chokes in a filter is that many find it kills the dynamics of a system, sound can become lifeless to an extent.
I think if DIYing your own filter it may be worthwhile messing with capacitors until you find a value that suits your needs (remember only X class for L-N)
The insert would be a ferrite coil i imagine, wound in a toroidal fasion.
Some filters have earth conections and some dont, im not familiar with the one you mentioned so cant comment.

In my exp, a shield should be earthed to drain any RFI.
