    All pieces of kit are in *mint* condition and have had *no* problems. I'm the only owner, I live alone with no pets and no children. They've never even been moved :)

    All of this kit was bought at the same time, May 2001.

    I'm selling because I'm going to spending the next few years moving around Europe, and this kit is too big and awkward to be dragging around (and I intend to get better kit when I settle down again).

    First item are the speakers; Martin Logan Ascents. Black trim. List price was 3900 UKP, I paid 3510 (10% off). I'm looking now for 2100 (60% of the paid price).

    Second item are the amplifiers; Monarchy SE-100 delux monoblocs. Class A monoblocs, XLR and phono sockets for input. List price 1100 UKP each, I paid 990. I'm looking now for 590 per unit (60% again).

    Third item are the interconnects; both the pre-amp to amp and amp to speaker cables are from Van den Hul. The pre-amp to amp cables are 2m lengths of "D-102 III Hybrid" with XLR connectors. The amp to speaker cables are four lengths per speaker (biwired) of 0.5m length Revelation [1]. Original price paid was 700 UKP. I'm looking now for 420 (60%, as ever).

    The P&P cost will be split 50/50 (it is after all a transaction cost, and it seems reasonable to me to share these things). I am rather expecting to sell in the UK of course, if only for power supply issues, but this is not mandatory.

    URLs;

    First - four photos of the kit;

    Next, various relevent manufacturer/review URLs;

    5. http://www.vandenhul.com/cable/d-102-3h.htm
    6. http://www.vandenhul.com/cable/rvlatn-h.htm

    So, in summary;

    1. Martin Logan Ascents; 2100 UKP.
    2. One pair Monarchy SE-100 delux monoblocs; 1180 UKP.
    3. Van den Hul cabling for the above; 420 UKP.

    [1] The cabling arrangment is long pre-amp to amp cables, with very short cables running from the monoblocs to the speakers; the monoblocs are placed behind the speakers, with their rear pointed towards the speakers [2]. Note that the speakers are bi-wired but that the SE-100s do not in fact have four outputs. What has been done is that two cables have spades and two have bananas; these four connections fit to the outputs on the amp. See the photos provided in the URLs section.

    [2] Why, you may ask? it is, I am informed, better to send a weak signal a long distance than a strong signal, since the effect of distortion is smaller, in proportion to the difference in strength of the signal. A friend made an analogy; if you wanted to get the attention of someone at your local supermarket, you phone the supermarket and then they use a loudspeaker system at the supermarket. You wouldn't have a loudspeaker at your house so loud it could be heard at the supermarket, which is the equivelent of sending amplifier output down a long cable. Anyone here care to comment on this? :)
