Does anyone know whether the Meridian 200 transport uses the CDM4/11 or CDM4/19 mechanism. Also am I right in thinking the CDM4/11 is the hall motor and the CDM4/19 is the brush motor.

    Thanks.

The later 200s (ser no 2*****) and 206s (ser no 4*****) have a CDM4/19 transport whereas the earlier 200 units (ser no 1*****) have a CDM4/21 unit. These two transports have different electronics. Meridian will service the unit but they cannot obtain all the parts now (notably the laser assembly on the CDM4/21).

CDM4/19s can be found in many philips, marantz, rotel and other players of the early 90s, easily obtainable. Some CDM4s do have hall motors but im not sure which ones. Although the control electronics are different the laser optics might well be interchangeable with no problems - some details can be found on diyaudio.com.

Convert cdm 4/19 into cdm 4/21

The early Meridiam CD200 that I have uses the CDM 4/21. I have a CDM 4/19 which I know can be converted into a CDM 4/21 but I do not know how to do it! Can anybody out there help with conversion instructions, please?
