That was the general idea.....but its connecting the aerial to the unit. Assuming a loft instilation with a good down lead. The DA-1 has a single wire aerial..if I desolder the wire from the pcb is it just a case of hooking the centre wire of the coax to the pcb and grounding the shield to 0v ?

Yes thats exactly what I've now done.......

Gone from acceptable ie mw to great ie fm quality. The error rate has dropped from15-20 down to zero on the ten strongest stations.

The aerial used is a standard fm omni turned to stand vertically inthe loft. The quad 77 tuner is now feed solely by the cable feed.

The next phase will be to rebox and use a super reg power supply.

Slightly off topic, Zanash do you think power supply changes would work on a Humax PVR to improve sound or picture quality

If your using a wall wart type psu ...then yes . Most everything works better with a clean regulated psu running at the correct voltage !

..and looking at the fact sheets for the 2 Venice modules (Venice FS2020 and Venice 2 FS2022), they both mention "Flexible Interfacing .... S/PDIF" so I assume it must be possible to get at the digital section

So, anyone have access to the data sheet?

    zanash,
I bought one of these Matsui DA-1 tuners and I would be interested if you had done any advantageous mods to your unit and if so what they are ?
    TIA

The obvious one it to make an aerial connection possible. ....I've been up to my eyes at present so not had chance to do much else.

mods will be to rebox the unit, add some quality caps to the power supply and then look at a dig out to a good dac.
