I'm finally moving on from my beloved Ruarks which have given me many years of faithful, thoroughly enjoyable service. They have a cherry veneer and are in top condition.

I have had the speakers professionally re-wired with Experience Filtration cable, which dropped their noise floor, tightened up the bass, opened and sweetened the mid and other good things :) I have also had a pair of granite bases cut to fit the footprint of the Ruarks, and I'll be throwing those in too.

Total of £970 spent on these speakers, I'm asking for £350 ono

I know its not on to comment on peoples ads, but I just wanted to say that Ruark Talisman II's are my favourite sub 1,000 floorstander of all time. They are great.

When I bought my pair, I A/B'd them against B&W's, KEFs, Castles and these just always came out on top.

    Sorry for butting in.

    Chris

    Hello Mr.C,

How old are the speakers? Do you have any pictures of them that you could send to me?

    Many thanks,

    Steve

A custom made pair of transmission lines which cost...ready?...about £7500. A big spend, no doubt, but I'm absolutely adamant that they are the speakers which I will be listening to until the day I die. I might get some pics of them posted as they really are a work of the cabinet makers art.

Rory, I'm not due to collect the finished article until the end of the month - I've been given Nov 28th as a delivery date. If you fancy waiting a bit to collect the stands then I'd be more than happy to let you listen to them :)

I saw the finished, unfitted cabinets last week and they are looking awesome. I originally placed the order in May  and there have been all sorts of hold ups and set backs, but a proper custom job can't be rushed, so it's lucky that I'm the patient, understanding type :) The prototype pair I heard were the best speakers I've listened to, and the designer reckons the new ones will be even better as they were built by a professional company, EE Smith Contracts. Check out www.eesmith.co.uk to see the sort of work this company usually does - serious people.

The cabinets are currently being fitted and I've been told that pictures of all stages are being taken, so as soon as I can get hold of them I'll post a few here.

    Jim

    dev,
given that mr c's cost aobut 10 times more than mine i don;t think we are comparing apples and apples here more like aplpes and errrr iguanas. so jealousy doesn;t come into it.
can't wait to see pictures (of mr c's speakers smarty pants).
    cheers
