Nice looking deck. I remember the reviews in HiFI Answers. Three people reviewed it, two gave it the thumbs up, one (Malcolm Steward) gave it the thumbs down.

I remebered John Jefferies used to import these at some stage. Was this the one that was on ebay?

That's the one. The seller was a gent to deal with and had it serviced before seliing (by the John you mention, I think). I'm hoping it will last me for quite some time to come - the build of it certainly suggests that it will, and the correspondence I've had with A.J. Conti gives reassurance that there is strong manufacturer support if anything should go wrong.

Can you remember why Malcolm Steward wasn't keen?

Like many turntables, support is still there. I think Malacolm Steward didn't like it because it didn't sound like his Linn LP12!

I have heard one a few times. It sounded seamless with good deatil and resolution.

It's an Onkyo PX-100 which, I think, belongs to Frank Schroeder.

Hen's teeth but a few were sold in Germany afaik.

 

That is a pretty deck and it has the requisite amount of copper of course!
