    Hi,

I am fairly new here and apologise if this has been covered already, is anyone using an Wifi or wired Ethernet client to stream audio an offoard DAC?

If so, what are you using and what do you think of it?

I have got most of my music ripped to either variable bit rate or WMA lossless and really like the idea of being able to use Windows Media Player 10 to create playlists and search for audio in my library. So the device needs to be able to work with WMA lossless and WMP 10.

I have got a Cyrus DACXP and really need something ideally with both Toslink and Coax outputs.

    Many Thanks,

    John.

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for the response.

I take it you can only control the audio via the PC with the Airport?

    How does it sound?

    Thanks,

    John.

It sounds fine, but I only encode my CD at 192K, as technobear says you might be better off with a squeeze box.

Yes you can only control an airport from a PC.

It's a shame they changed the design of the squeeze box I liked the look of the originals.

Does anyone know how the Roku Soundbridge fairs against the Squeezebox 2?

Andy, I really want to be able to control the music via the device so may give teh airport express a miss.

    Cheers,

    John.

I have reviewed all of the alternatives here (after testing them all myself):

Personally, I would (and did) go for the Squeezebox 2, after owning a Roku, it is far superior.

i use a squeezebox 2 into an audio synthesis dax decade. the sb2 is comparable to a dedicated arcam transport (if my audio memory serves) and is narrowly beaten by a dpa transport. mods to the clock and (more importantly) the psu would close the gap imho. however this was using flac which is decompressed on the sb2 thus saving loads of bandwidth allowing you to use the microwave without dropouts.
    go for an sb2.
    cheers
