I have been unable to see the room we are talking about - why do the links fail to connect for me anyone know?

Romy Im not sure if your question is meant for all of us? However if the prize you are offering is a good cartridge or an SME arm I will give it a go.

The reasoning behind you disregarding dedicated listening rooms as a significant issue is because A) You are not conventional B)You have found that good quality vinyl valve horn hifi system is less sensitive to room interactions. C) Room design is not in your playback rules.

Me I think there is more than one way to skin a cat so its horses for courses.

The single most important aspect of any listening room is the listening chair.

To spend all that money and to finish up perched on a flimsy rocking chair from Ikea is a crime. Eames or Stressless should be considered minimum requirements.

For me the most important aspect of my listening room is being able to listen to the music in peace while the wife watches endless soap opera`s on the TV in the living room.

How anybody with a "normal" wife (ie non music listener unless she is doing the ironing, and even then she is more likely to put the telly on~) ever gets to listen to music is completely beyond me.

For me a listening room is not a luxury its an essential

While the kids grew, I had a recreation room with the TV, as far as possible from the living room, where I had the music system...

Separation of TV and Audio has been a constitutional necessity in every house I've owned. Current (and preferred) solution is no TV!

I like AV, mostly for music, no surround in my last system, not really necessary with good stereo setup, but I like to see the music, there is some really beautifull looking music... ;)

I spent a fair bit of time trying out chairs for my room....and opted for the Ikea version in the end, despite it being about the cheapest going - it was (& still is) supremely comfortable, but only with the footstool...

Is the ikea chair a little too low? I would have thought something more in line with typical tweeter height?? Lovely room!

    Well,

In my old bachelor years, I used to have my equipment in my living room. And that was fine. But nowadays, I have not only a wife but also a 3 year old doughter, which makes all the difference.

Thanks to my dedicated room, which is also sound proofed, I can listen long into the night, without disturbing my baby. That wouldn't be possible if the equipment was sitting in my living room. The acoustical treatment was just an afterthought, a nice bonus if you like.
